Miss Emma has been leading sessions of music and movement for young children and their caregivers since 2018.
You might know her from the Music for Sprouts or GROW classrooms, her *First Thursday* sessions at South Burlington Library, summer gatherings at Adam’s Berry Farm, her autumnal hangs at Shelburne Orchard or one of the dozens of special events she’s been a part of across Vermont.
In January 2025 Miss Emma began leading music and movement small group classes for children and caregivers at Marigold Gallery, in Burlington’s South End.
Performing with her ukulele you can expect inspired renditions of classic kids songs, original music, and tunes from Mister Chris & the Music for Sprouts classroom, along with scarf play, sing alongs, what will surely be an epic jam session! Emma’s songwriting and interactive kids’ music is rooted in noticing the natural world. She strives to create a welcoming space for kids to explore creativity, imaginative play, and connect with live music!

More About Miss Emma
In 2020 and 2021 Emma released four songs for children, Rainbow Parade, Underwater Jubilee, Dragon Kin, and Skiing Song which you can find on streaming platforms under her name Emma Cook. She got her start with Chris Dorman in the Music for Sprouts classroom at Bread & Butter Farm in Shelburne. Learning with Mister Chris and Music for Sprouts laid the foundation for Emma’s kids music, and continues to inspire and inform Emma’s work with young kids. Music For Sprouts original music and programming has always been rooted in exploring movement, improvisation, and the seasons, in a safe space for kiddos to explore their creativity, and connect with one another. Most recently, Emma led classes as part of the GROW Prenatal & Family Center, where young families can find opportunities for connection at yoga classes. As a mom to toddler she is committed to creating space and nurturing spaces for both kids and caregivers as they grow and learn.

“Making music with kids is joy. It’s presence. They lead the music with their energy and creativity, and they’ll let you know right away if what you’re offering isn’t working for them — the most honest and earnest audience! Performing for kids and leading classes to connect kids with rhythm and music is one of my favorite places to be.”
